2026 Ford Explorer Tremor Debuts with 400 HP Option

Ford just dropped something big for adventure-loving families. The brand new 2026 Explorer Tremor is here, and it packs the most power and off-road capability of any Explorer ever built.

This isn't just another SUV with some plastic cladding. Ford built the Explorer Tremor from the ground up to handle serious trail work while keeping three rows of family comfort. The result is a vehicle that can tackle weekend camping trips and Monday morning school runs with equal confidence.

Serious Off-Road Hardware That Works

The Explorer Tremor comes loaded with real off-road gear. You get a full inch of extra ride height compared to regular Explorer models, plus improved approach and departure angles for tackling steep terrain.

Ford fitted 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires that can grip loose dirt, gravel, and rocky trails. The Torsen limited slip rear differential helps send power where you need it when traction gets sketchy.

Protection comes from front and rear skid plates that shield vital components from rocks and debris. High-intensity LED off-road lights and easily accessible recovery hooks round out the rugged package.

Two Engine Options for Different Adventures

The standard setup includes a 300 horsepower 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that delivers solid performance for most situations. But Ford also offers the same 400 horsepower 3.0-litre EcoBoost engine found in the high-performance Explorer ST.

Both engines work with an off-road tuned suspension featuring unique springs and sway bars. This setup balances comfortable highway cruising with capable trail performance.

The electric spice painted accents give the Tremor its signature look while signaling serious off-road intent.

Technology That Helps On and Off Road

Ford loaded the Explorer Tremor with helpful tech features. BlueCruise 1.5 hands-free highway driving includes Automatic Lane Change capability for long road trips to your favorite camping spots.

The Ford Digital Experience can be upgraded with the Connectivity Package for WiFi hotspot, Google Assistant, and embedded Google Maps. Copilot 360 Assist 2.0 includes a 360-degree camera system that helps navigate tight trail situations.

Comfort features like available massaging front seats and a 14-speaker B&O audio system keep everyone happy during long adventures.

Ready to Order Your Trail-Ready Explorer

Ford opened ordering for the 2026 Explorer Tremor on June 24, 2025. The first units will start arriving at dealerships in late 2025.

The Tremor joins the Explorer lineup alongside the Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum models. This gives families a true off-road option without sacrificing the space and comfort they need.
